In the desolate days of Hasphal’s past, a group of refugee children, known as the Sand Children, roamed the wilderness. They had escaped a wave of kidnappings that plagued the region, and though they were misfits, they forged a bond that would evolve into kinship. Without families or homes, they became pickpockets, grave robbers, and scammers. Though they avoided violent crimes, they often found themselves defending against more aggressive gangs when crossing into their territories. Some were captured by authorities and placed in foster homes or orphanages, but many always found a way back to the wilderness.

As time passed, the Sand Children matured, and the punishments for their crimes grew harsher. Many abandoned their old ways, while others joined rival gangs. Yet nothing could stop Brad. Unlike the others, Brad was determined to build a legacy for the Sand Children, to make them infamous. Brad was a notorious grave robber, with an uncanny ability to uncover where the wealthy were buried and how to loot their graves without getting caught. He knew that wealth and resources were the keys to establishing his gang’s dominance on Hasphal.

Brad’s chance came when he discovered information about a stash that could solidify his ambition. He learned of the gravesite of one of Coren De Mastet’s wealthiest families, the resting place of a coal tycoon’s wife. She was said to be buried with a rare, valuable gem known as an “ore.” Brad, accompanied by Errol, a loyal and eager young companion, set out for the gravesite under the cover of night. As they dug deeper into the dirt, an unsettling darkness seemed to seep into the pit, the air thick with a chilling, unnatural energy. Brad’s determination was unwavering, but Errol began to feel a creeping sense of dread.

Finally, their shovels struck the coffin. Without hesitation, Brad tore it open, revealing a glowing red gem radiating an eerie light. Brad’s eyes widened with excitement as he lifted the gem, its eerie red glow illuminating his face. Just then, a gunshot shattered the silence. A bullet whizzed past his ear, missing by mere inches. Beside him, Errol dropped to the ground, stunned. Dazed by the ringing in his ears, Brad looked up to find Devran, an infamous gang leader, standing over him, gun aimed directly at his head. With a sinister grin, Devran demanded the gem. Fury flashed in Brad’s eyes as Devran snatched the ring and rode off, his mocking laughter echoing in the night.

As Devran disappeared into the distance, something strange happened. Souls began to rise from the graves, wailing and chanting, their ghostly forms drifting through the air. But Brad’s anger was so consuming he was unfazed by the ghosts’ influence. Errol, however, stood frozen, paralyzed by dread. Brad fired his guns at the apparitions, futile as it was. To Brad, the only thing that mattered was getting back the gem and killing Devran.
Brad’s life in the wilderness has sharpened his mental fortitude; he’s a man with little fear, unshaken even in the most dire situations. Highly resourceful, Brad can turn anything within reach into a tool or weapon. His brash, unfiltered personality has earned him the respect of many infamous gangs across Hasphal, allowing him to use his connections and reputation to uncover information and track down people and treasures. Although he’s not a sharpshooter, his superior hand-eye coordination enables him to fire with impressive speed, making him all the more dangerous. His relentless, aggressive shooting makes up in sheer intensity what it lacks in precision.

Originally created for a friendly competition between Yin & Rell to see who can get a game done faster (spoiler alert: none of the games were finished). We gave ourselves 3 months. Yin was making a western fantasy RPG and Rell was making a full fledged fighting game. Brad was one of the 3 (at the time) main characters of Lunaris. He was the one who made everyone upset with his unwanted snide remarks.

A survivor by all means necessary. I think over the years he has kept that same personality going.
