The universe, boundless, uncertain, and ever-shifting, holds secrets and terrors that would shatter the minds of the oblivious and the uninitiated. Beyond the familiar brutality of creation lies its reflected twin: a realm of pure malice, where the most diabolical monstrosities in existence are born. No being should ever lay eyes, ears, or senses upon the blackness of this inverted world, the hellish dimension known only as the Void.

Even those who consider themselves safe within the Celestial Tear underestimate how close its dangers truly are. The Void presses against the fabric of reality, creeping ever nearer as time ticks toward its inevitable rapture of the living universe. Through cracks, seams, and unseen doorways, its corruption seeps through the pores of existence, spilling into planets and civilizations across the galaxies. Across millennia of recorded history, as intelligent life has risen and fallen, countless secret orders have formed to confront this cosmic threat. These hidden warriors have lived and died in silence, waging a perpetual, often hopeless, war against an unnatural force older than stars. On the planet Hasphal, one such order once stood: the Black League.

In their desperation to end the war once and for all, the League attempted to strike directly at the Void. Their hubris proved catastrophic. Instead of sealing the threat, they led an army of shadow-born horrors straight to their own doorstep. The League was slaughtered in moments, torn apart by the very darkness they sought to defeat. Only one survived: a man named Polaris.

Now burdened with the consequences of his comrades’ misguided crusade, Polaris realizes the Void has set its gaze upon Hasphal, marking the planet for annihilation. Armed with ancient Jeht tomes and the crystallized remains of those mystical beings, he continues the fight with what magic remains.

But Polaris cannot stand alone. To stop the Void, to seal the gateways to oblivion, and to bar the cosmic door before Hasphal’s ruin becomes inevitable, he must find new warriors, champions capable of facing the darkness and surviving what the Black League could not.
Polaris draws his strength from the ancient Jeht tomes and the crystallized remnants of the Jeht themselves, channeling a form of arcane energy specifically suited for combating the Void. Through these artifacts, he can cast protective runes, conjure barriers, and infuse his weapons with anti-void magic capable of cutting through creatures born from darkness. His spells are not the wild or elemental magic of old legends, but refined, deliberate, and precise designed to seal rifts, weaken voidborn entities, and stabilize fractures in reality before they spread.

As the last surviving member of the Black League, Polaris has also become a master tactician and a hardened fighter, capable of sensing distortions in the fabric of space where the Void seeps through. Though not superhuman, his intense training and exposure to Jeht energy grant him heightened awareness and resilience. This combination of disciplined magic, relic-based augmentation, and intimate knowledge of the Void makes him one of the few beings left who can stand against its corruption and one of the only people who truly understands how close it has come to consuming Hasphal.

Lunaris is a western fantasy RPG concept that was originally created for a friendly competition between Yin & Rell to see who can get a game done faster (spoiler alert: none of the games were finished). We gave ourselves 3 months. It originally had 3 characters: Miranda, Terry, and Jake (later renamed Brad because of a conflict with Jake Kontor from Lost World). Polaris was created after the fact because we needed a mage-like character for the game.
