Zieg was born in Coren De Mastet, a place where life was harsh. Working in the mines was tough on his family, but for young Zieg, it was an adventure. He often found himself exploring abandoned mines and climbing through caves, eager to conquer new challenges. Despite frequently getting hurt or almost trapped under collapsing rubble, Zieg’s adventurous spirit never wavered. The other children would tease and taunt him, warning of a monster that lived in the caves—a creature that supposedly ate children and would one day find him.

Rather than being deterred, the idea of a monster in the caves enticed Zieg. Determined to find this beast, he ventured deeper into the mines. Eventually, Zieg encountered the fabled creature—a gigantic cave dragon. The beast was intimidating, towering over Zieg, but he stood his ground. This brave gesture earned the monster’s respect, and it submitted to Zieg’s will. Proud of his achievement, Zieg brought the dragon back home.

Unbeknownst to Zieg, the beast he captured had a bounty on its head, which brought considerable wealth to his family. They moved across the river to Pekitzer, a town where life was more structured and, to Zieg, boring. As he grew older, Zieg left Pekitzer in search of the adventure he craved as a child. His passion for capturing dangerous beasts led him to hear tales of a legendary monster called the Demon King.

Zieg eventually tracked down the Demon King, but unlike other creatures he had tamed, this one did not respond to him. Instead, the monster immediately lashed out, killing Zieg in the process. However, his story didn’t end there. Zieg’s body washed up on the shore of an abandoned beach town called Mizu, where a wayward alchemist named Mioni brought him back to life.
Zieg is a reckless adventurer with the ability to ignore pain and fear in pursuit of his goals. His time working in the mines as a child taught him how to make bombs with the same explosive power as dynamite. Additionally, Zieg has gained extensive knowledge of various creatures from the libraries of Pekitzer, which he uses to capture and tame beasts.
Zieg has had no public appearances. Stay tuned to see where he ends up!

When I played Final Fantasy 7 for the first time, I was introduced to a brash, potty mouthed, pilot who instantly became my favorite character. Cid Highwind. Zieg is very much inspired by Cid in design and personality and there’s no hiding it. Story-wise, they are VERY different characters. I’d like to think of Zieg as if Cid lived in the Celestial Tear universe.
